PLAYING WITH LIGHT

8:41 pm Videos

Hey guys, hope you’ve been enjoying my video blogs from my trip in the middle east. Gotta tell you its a welcome distraction putting together these videos whilst working in the studio!

This one was done in the entrance to this enormous fort in Syria, called Crack De Chevalier. Don’t ask me about the origin of that name, I have NO idea! I was to busy doing this whilst my guide was storming on ahead.

Guides and I generally = a very dangerous combination! For some reason they always seem to hate me or more precisely, quit. I guess if you were a 60 year old professor and you saw me doing what I was doing in the vlog below instead of listening, you wouldnt exactly be to into it.

Oh well, I left the castle ignorant but happy.

Hope you like the vid!

Dear Mika, i wanted to send you a birthday present, but i could’t find an address of your fan club or may be an accommodation address. Can you help me?
    Please =)

  22. Victoria Harrison :

    Date: August 13, 2008 @ 8:53 pm

Not long until your birthday and also my little boy’s!(Well…actually his is two days later - how silly am I for being annoyed they didn’t coincide exactly?!). Where are you going to spend yours? He will no doubt be at a soft play area, but then he will be two. I’m sure you will be somewhere much more exciting. Although like him you like The Wonder Pets, so who knows? ;-D

Anyway I look forward to reading/watching what you’re up to…

And NOW comes an act of Enormous Enormance!
No former performer’s performed this performance!

Wow, I can totally see how you got inspiration from this great man!
One must be blind to not notice how you have obviously taken in his ‘If I ran the circus’ long time ago already.
Also the whimsical character of his creatures, especially the cat in the hat, hold a bit of Jim Woodring’s Frank. Or more likely, vice versa. Influences are everywhere, right? ;o)

I also like the title of your upcoming album a lot!!! I’m so happy that you have finally overcome your fish phobia to a point where you can even link them to your name this way – a real landmark moment! Congrats!

Thanks for another fantastic insight in your world!

Haha that actually looks really very cool.

I’d probably play with that as well.

Guides…hmm, yes, they don’t work, but thats more because I get distracted and always get lost or separated from the group.

Not a good tendency. Oh well.

Between all of your blogs, you have the makings for a nifty music video!

That was really cool. Who needs guides anyway? It’s like reading instructions, it’s much more fun to do things the hard way.

Ohhh the studio, mmmmm love those words.

Ya’ll come back now you hear :) lol

Re re-hi..I am not gonna sleeping tonight lol..I am joking.. So about the meaning of “Krak des Chevaliers”…”Krak” is a diminution from the syriac term “karak” which means “stronghold”.. There was a time,in the Middle Age,when it was occupied by “Les chevaliers de l’hôpital”, sort of templars… That’s all! But I guess you had the curiosity to make researches.. So now I am really going in my bed! Kisses and love..

Ohh….the Truffula Tree…I’ve always liked that image. Never thought about it looking like a lollipop….but I can see your point.

I think there is a band called Truffula Tree, but can’t really say I’m into their music, but a good name for a band.

I won’t comment on the name of your next album, but I have always like dr. suess too, so it works for me (not that your really care, huh?)

    Thanks for sharing your interests,

People have done a capella versions to your songs, harmonies are incredible! Just thought I’d share, because it’s amazing what people do with not just YOUR music, but music in general!

    ‘night Mika!

This is a crazy and creative video and shows very well your airily feeling during the “informating” sightseeing tour :) -

it’s always fine to be a tourist (in a foreign land), nobody knows one, and you can do what you like! …but are you sure, that YOU wasn’t recognised by someone during your sun-dance?? - although, I imagine that this wouldn’t be a problem for you ;)

And I hope your studio-work goes well, I cannot wait for your second album - but your blogs/vlogs ease the waíting time in different ways, sometimes funny, than to learn something about art and artists, than to widen my music-horizon – yes, your online-book is well-assorted! ;)

Have a good night, sweet dreams and stay happy,

Crack De Chevalier, this name is just amazing…too amazing to actually ignore the origin of it sorry

    so…

once upon a time, yo, very nice shiny happy people were protecting the outcasts, the freaks of the society, the bad gender ones….
( helping the needy, host the homeless, heal the sick, give free crack to addicts, work for peace and goodness in this ô very beautiful world that was of course at the time already full of total love, compassion and empathy)
until the very IGNORANT sultan of the mikalouks came to screw it up all …blabla… end of the story. real life.no disney ending.
and those people were an organization called l´ordre de Malte aka l´ordre des Chevaliers de l´hospital…we kept Chevaliers alone (to sound cool) and added krak (=karak=fortress)

SO it was the refuge of an organization taking care of people that life and destiny had decided to XXXX up with.

thank you for making me laugh once again !

nice vid, I like the coulours and the music, they suit very well with the pictures ! Do you make the videos by your own ? Does Andy helping ? I’m very curious because each video is unique, with a particular atmosphere…

you could have called that vid “et la lumière fut….” too !

But, there is only one thing that is missing in your vid : the guide !! I would have pay to see his face in front of this moment of madness instead of listening to him…

    have nice evening.

    “Go make balbeck tumble down
in every street, in every heart”

nevr thought you were a disciple of the dr seuss though but now that i know, i feel a little less ignorant.

    great work man xxx

Good grief Mika, this one really cracked me up!
It HAS to be the best one to date, honestly!!
MAybe that’s why they call it the “Crack …”, cause when people get in there they do stuff that crack others up…Oh well I don’t think I’m making a lot of sense, am I?
I must say, Zuleika’s moves are a lot more graceful than yours, but you do try, and that counts for a lot. I especially liked the “swimming” move you do…Is that a trademark Penniman thing? Are you going to do it in your next shows? Maybe you should consider it.
“I tried to be like Grace Kelly *swimmy moves* but her looks”

Ok I will stop before I go on with even more crack errr I mean crap.

Good night and have a good Bday weekend!!!!

It does exist no doubt that your sister and you have art in your blood.

Who could have such idea? The is great. In the middle of nothing, only moving your bodies, taking the advantage of the light, both have made art.

This video shows that people don’t need too much to make a good art, but a creative mind is NEEDFUL!!

Yasmine, I loved your gentle movements under the light.

    Congratulations to both!!

Brilliant, quite brilliant, sir. The Lorax is also a favorite of mine; such a dark, haunting story for a children’s book.
The Truffula Tree is a symbol of simplicity, yet when contemplated for a few minutes, obviously has deeper meanings than the initial design would have you believe.
The Cat in the Hat reminds me of you so much, it’s hysterical. And I love the name of the next album. I think you really honored the man and fans all over the world will be very impressed. Thanks for recognizing his genius!

Oh I’m such a moron, I forgot to say half of what I was going to.

First, if I had a pound for every person who writes a comment saying “I’m the first to comment”, I would be a rich woman soon.

Secondly, I am SO happy that you gave us that info on Dr Seuss…such an icon…plus, I had wild alaskan salmon for dinner today.
    Is that a sign?

Thirdly, but not least importantly: congrats on the twins, little Munchkin and Cupcake.

    Lots of love

    FINALLY!!!
Ciao MIO ADORATO MIKA,I granted only 2 days of vacation, but already I was missing this daily appointment,I see that you not ever lose the opportunity to have a fun (you seemed my 2 smaller children playing!!!)however you do well, your creative spirit expresses itself in various forms and in this case even so, indeed that place it’s extremely cold and grey the lights are the only things that makes it a little “cheerfull”, sometimes even our aspects of human persons, must find their outlet including throught the game end in itself, for example when it rains and form the puddles I don’t they avoid and I put inside my feet because I like to hear the noise of trampled water…(obviously when I’m not with my childrens!!!), now I go to sleep because although short-lived the trip was rather long, a big hug and as usual a lots of kisssssseeeeessss!!! Good night, MARI AND SONS.
Ah, I forgot, many small kisses to your sister from my son.

Eugène III : great sum-up of the story!!! Thanx for this “sublimissime” - not boring ” explanation!!! lol (But where are Eugène I and Eugène II???- I know it’s not funny but it’s past midnight so… )

In fact you just have the “official” version … the story is less romantic…the name of the fort was given in memory of a brave french knight who lived in this fort but unfortunatly for a too long time!!
Yeah I know it could be about a man and a princess but it’s too predictable!!!
Le chevalier was well-known in Syria for his talent for his bravery but also…for killing homing pigeons…(which was a little bit annoying for the only communication with the rest of the world)
From this : the noun “Crack” (the sound of breaking bones)

Ok ok it’s not very cool story but there is an happy ending!! :)lol
Finally, for his redemption he became the best friend of all the pigeons not only the homing pigeons and became the first homing pigeon whisperer (l’homme qui murmurait à l’oreille des pigeons voyageurs, ça sonne bien, nan?!!

!!! Toi tu étais dans la VIE !!!!!!!!!
:D Évolue comme tu veux mais nous t’en supplions tous: ne touche à rien pour ça, tu deviendrais chiant ;) T’es trop cool Mika.
