August 18, 2008 1:05 pm BlogI want to say thank you to everyone who has posted comments, written messages and even sent gifts. Its totally amazing and I feel very honored and lucky to have you all as fans. It really means a lot especially with the amount of thought that has gone into so many of these gifts. Here are three samples from a birthday photo album I received at Paleo in Switzerland. There are so many more great things to share and I will do so in good time.

PS, just to let everyone know. Almost all of the pieces of art, sculptures, drawings, hand made books etc… have been kept over the last two years. We have been organizing and keeping stuff in safe storage as I want to use my favorite pieces in the future. I am also planning a dedicated gallery on the new website to art that has been made by so many of you. So thanks again, it is all totally appreciated!

Mika, j’aimerai partager quelque chose avec toi.
L’autre jour, je me demandais si tu connaissais un artiste qui s’appelle Tim Walker. Peut-être est-ce déjà le cas ? C’est un photographe que j’ai tout de suite adoré et que j’ai découvert lors d’une exposition dans ma ville.
En fait, j’habite à Arles en France, où il y a chaque année les R.I.P (Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie) qui est un festival de photographie international. Je me rends chaque année aux expositions, et, cette année, j’ai littéralement fondue sur place devant les photographies de Tim Walker.
Je me suis dit que ça pouvait te plaire aussi. Ses photographies mélange l’univers d’Alice aux Pays des Merveilles de Lewis Carroll, de rêves, réalité et couleurs, à couper le souffle !
Cependant, d’après ce que j’ai trouvé sur internet, Tim Walker n’a pas de site officiel, donc si tu es intéressé ou curieux, il faut soit taper “Tim Walker” dans Google images, soit aller sur http://www.rencontres-arles.com dans “Expositions”, puis “Invités” puis “Tim Walker”, mais bon il n’y a qu’une seule image, c’est dommage… et puis c’est encore un mannequin… Sur google images aussi d’ailleurs car il a travaillé pour le magazine Vogue pendant longtemps.
Mais, sincèrement, ce sont ses photographies de paysage, mise en scène naturelle etc. qui sont les plus magnifiques, les plus brillantes et qui m’ont marqué. Malheureusement, je n’ai pas réussi encore à en trouver sur internet. Pour ma part, je vais acheter le livre avec les photographies de l’exposition. Sinon, si ça t’intéresse, j’essaierai de te passer les liens internet de ses photos quand j’en aurai trouvé ou quand j’en aurai mise en ligne.
Voilà, si j’ai décidé de partager tout ça avec toi c’est parce non seulement j’aime plus que tout ta musique qui, quand je l’ai découverte, a été l’une des meilleures choses qui me soient arrivées dans ma vie. Mais aussi parce qu’en dehors de ta musique, tu as l’air (je dis tu as l’air car bien sûr je ne te connais malheureusement pas personnellement) d’avoir une personnalité fantastique et un caractère formidable ! En plus tu aimes l’Art et les couleurs ! (Comme moi :-d mais bon en même temps, qui n’aime pas l’Art ?)

Grâce à toi, on a passé une année formidable (soit sur les routes de pas mal de pays…mais c’est parce que tu le vaux bien! lol), on a rencontré des gens géniaux (et oui le MWS, c’est bien de vous dont je parle
), des artistes formidables (je parle principalement de Julie, JF et Tanguy)…je ne vais pas tout énumérer, mais en tout cas, je ne pourrais jamais oublier ça! et c’est en grande partie grâce à toi!

It was a great pleasure to be part of the photo album, and the birthday present project.
I hope you enjoyed the mugs, I know everyone who worked on them had a lot of fun doing so. A big thank you for organising it should go to Avoca, she put a lot of time and effort into getting done in time.

So i think now is as good a time as any to share this, i guess, especially since it’s your birthday.
As old an as crotchitty as my heart feels right now, from the wears and tears of loving many, that are gone now, or still here, in all its sense, and as crazy and maybe even unbelievable as this is going to sound, i love you. I know it, because before i said it, it hurt and that burning sensation right after is a sure indicator as well.
Love is not just for lovers, family or for friends but sometimes for brothers or sisters that you meet on the road of life, as I’ve met you and yet, we have no titles.
I truly respect you Mika. For being a humanitarian and not even knowing it. For giving back, for not holding in your care for people, especially those who support you. I greatly respect that, and that is something i think i can learn from you. Funny how that is, the give and take of relationships.
I love you and i hope that you have a wonderful birthday proceeding and infinitely more successful year then the last and hopefully being able to give and receive more love than the last, as that is what the struggle of life is all about, perfecting our love, making it True.

No need to thank us, you make us feel special everyday with your vlogs, blogs, posts…I think it’s the first time fans can feel so close to an artist, who takes the time to sit down and post things for us, because you think we’re worth the time and bother. It shows a great amount of respect and love for all the people who love you as an artist, and as a person, and that in itself is rare enough to be pointed out. What’s more, i can’t even start to tell you how good your songs make me feel, or not so good sometimes because i, like so many others, recognize myself in some of your lyrics.
