I loved them drawings love be able to draw like that people say I good drawer but never had any lessons draw whats comes to mind I used play that drawing game with my older brother Barry when I younger it was shown to us at my special school meadow bank some art students came and I loved it at home I have aspergers a form of autisem and I love drawing as it helps me express things and always calms my aniextys wish I could draw that good as you and sophie maybe one day I hope Catherine x

I’m bit late to comment this wonderful idea of your cooperation with Sophie Blackall!! I’m new here actually and my daughter is great fan of yours, she also comments here a lot. Thanks to her I fell in love with your music. But let’s back to this blog.

I totally agree that Sophie’s artwork is so, so feminine and whismical even grotesque in some details. And such mixture is something that reminds me a bit on the great paintings and illustrations from Alfred Kubin.
Franz Kafka was so inspired by his work, especially in his novel “The Castle”.

And now there’s another proof of creative interaction between visual, musical and textual aspects of the game…I’m really happy for you.

His name is Ricardo Siri, better knew as “Liniers”. He make greats, sweets and cutes little comics. He´s so recognized here….If someone interested wants, just chek something about him on the web…

My family and I used to do a drawing game like that when I was a child, only it started with a line instead of a full drawing, and you could not cross over or cover up the original line. We ended up with some crazy things. It definitely gets the creative juices flowing. I still use it nowadays when my muse goes on vacation. Have fun with it, and I look foward to seeing the results!

The drawings remind me of a book i was also hypnotised by and i used to read when i was younger , it had similar drawings , but i was totally obscessed with a poem in there called “who killed cock robin” ... youve probably heart of it , but all the birds in the drawing had little bow and arrows and a fish holding a dish etc LOL ...

WOW! I can’t believe you are actually doing this… You know, for years I’ve been doing the same with two of my closest friends, not with drawings (Gosh, no nobody wants to see me drwaing, believe me!), but with a written story. It’s been going on for some 15 years, and I tell you it’s mad.

So I guess there’s no need to say I love the idea LOL. I’m very curious about what the final object will be, and of course, I’d lie if I said I don’t want to win the competition

Did you know that drawing, folding the paper, then drawing again, etc. is actually a surrealist technique? The process is called exquisite corpse, and from what I understand, it’s supposed to invoke the unconscious mind.

(my comment morning was lost on the road)
my children have watched the pictures of Sophie and remained enchanted, they said that they seem magic, in fact, are so delicate and refined that seem designed by Fata Turchina(a character of an Italian fable entitled “Pinocchio”).  There is at the touch of a woman, a woman very sensitive and rational, without excesses which, while it gently, focuses perfectly what he wants the viewer to convey his works (the art is my passion. ..). I must say that, in my opinion, some even hide a certain mystery, for example, the last figure I like, it is very interesting, because the man with the key close between the lips, has many meanings, the first that comes to mind could be what’s lips are the key (in figuratively) to open the door lock or any room or somewhere safe that contains treasures, in this case I imagine something about the woman (always figuratively ). But the man in question seems asleep (or dead ???), then the meaning of the picture acquires a different interpretation, but then why upside down?
He could also be a character of some his tale?
I would analyze all the meanings that I whale are now in mind, but I would be too long not enough that an entire page of the blog to describe it because this kind of topics I am very passionate and so I began dreaming ...
I am very curious to see your design (I could understand the sense of the game) and feel what inspires in me, I am very impatient in nature and therefore I am anxiety (which is badly) but I can do? Are now too big to change my character and my life is often a constant concern (I have you bored!!!), You are always positive and optimistic, too much I admire you for that.
In the next few days you could post a video of sunny LA?

I just noticed that, when you move your mouse over Sophie Blackall’s drawings, some of them appear with different titles in the thematic sub-sections than their “official” ones ( the ones displayed in the “sales” section )
For example, “Fertility” appears as “infertility”, “Not eating” as “Eating disorder”, or “Girl in the mirror” as “Breast cancer”...
The working titles seem to be often darker than the final ones…

I just noticed that, and, for me, it brought a different perspective to some of her work… so i just thought i’d share…

Je recommence mon message, que j’ai envoyé par erreure :( .

Alors, je voulais dire que je trouvais ses images splendides , et que certaines me font penser au illustrations que l’on trouve dans les livres pour les petits .
Je trouve qu’elles ont toutes une certaine signification, mais parfois qu’il est dure de trouver ! (Je pense notament à celle de la main qui porte pleins de petits objets . Quelle est sa signification ? Je dirais que je vois à travers cette image, le mystère, le secret et la magie . Ce sont en fait les petits objets dans la main, qui pour moi évoque ses mots . Les cartes, le chapeau de magicien, le feu, le sablier, la clé ainsi que le verrou, et il y a aussi une sorte d’elle, mais pour quoi faire ? Voler ?  . Bref, on pourrait se poser pleins de questions à travers le sens de ses images, et c’est ça qui est gégnial avec un tableau, une photographie, ou une image c’est que l’on est libre de lui approprier notre signification, tel qu’on la veut . Je pense que tu vois ce que je veux dire .

Sur ce, je te laisse Mr l’artiste, et encore une fois merci , je crois que je ne te le dirais jamais assez !

We in the same way played in the childhood)). At school… I Think, your joint drawing will be surprising! When nobody knows an end result… And, I hope, I shall manage to understand an essence of competition.)) I shall remind, I do not know English.
