For the last 2 nights, Mika has performed his breathtaking ‘Sinfonia Pop’ with world renowned conductor and orchestrator Simon Lecler at Opera di Firenze in Florence, Italy – and made history. The two very special shows, one on New Year’s Eve with gala dinner, were the first time ever in the history of the Opera di Firenze that the lights were turned on before the end of the concert and the audience were on their feet dancing in the aisles!
Following hugely popular and critically acclaimed orchestral performances in Montreal and Como, Sinfonia Pop was brought to Florence, and again sold out in record time.
Tomorrow and Saturday nights see Mika performing at L’Opera di Firenze in Florence. At these two much anticipated concerts, Mika will perform again his Sinfonia Pop concerts with full orchestra and world renowned conductor Simon Leclerc. As with the shows in Montreal and Como, these two very special performances will showcase Mika’s incredible songwriting talents with his music rearranged and adapted for an orchestra.
Tickets for the shows sold out very quickly and both nights will no doubt be memorable moments in Mika’s career, but especially for everyone attending.
Updates and photos from the shows will be posted over on Mika’s Facebook soon.
Today sees the release of Mika’s latest DVD, ‘MIKA ♥ PARIS.’ The concert was filmed at his 20,000 capacity AccorHotels Arena show in Paris earlier this year and features the stunning stage design collaboration between Mika and Studio Job.
The set list includes classics such as ‘Grace Kelly’ and ‘Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)’ alongside incredible renditions of recent material from his ‘No Place In Heaven’ album, including ‘Good Guys’ and ‘Talk About You’.
The DVD was recorded with the support of Centre national du cinema et de l’image animée and with the participation of francetélévisions. The stage show was designed by Studio Job in collaboration with Mika and took in some of the iconic landmarks of Paris, including an illuminated Arc De Triophe and a giant cake in the shape of the Sacre Couer. Couple all this with giant MIKA lettering made up of LED screens which showed short films of Mika around Paris during track interludes, the show continues in the tradition of the great music showmen such as Bowie and Elton John. The show was part of a huge 30 date European tour from this summer, following the international success of 2015’s ‘No Place in Heaven’.
