Hey guys, I write from a studio in a nondescript concrete building in
Los Angeles. The recording is just over three weeks in and it feels great to be
out of demo phase. As many of you know we’ve been working on the DVD
for the Paris show and its now finished. I thought I would share the
new trailer with you guys. I’ve had a blast making this and hope you like it too.

The music that’s used at the beginning is by a band called Fleet Foxes.  I’m really liking them at the moment. If you have a chance check out their song Ragged Wood. Its brill.

WHAT I’M LOOKING AT TODAY; MARCEL DZAMA

If I was to get a tattoo it would probably be a character by Marcel Dzama. Some of you may already know of him from his album cover for Beck’s Guerro. He is a truly original artist from Canada who tends to merge and mutate people and animals creating something in between the two. His creatures are terrifying and adorable at the same time.

It is because marcel Dzama’s characters are not quite human that they are able to do strange things. From the playful and violent to the sexual, yet still get away with it.  I was always turned off by art history as a student.  I felt it was time that could be spent drawing or experimenting instead of writing essays about long gone art heroes.  Now however, I wish I could put more knowledgeable words to describe what some art makes me feel. I guess you could call this art surreal. All I know for sure is that even if his work is dark or sad its always playful and draws me in.

PLAYING WITH LIGHT

Hey guys, hope you’ve been enjoying my video blogs from my trip in the middle east. Gotta tell you its a welcome distraction putting together these videos whilst working in the studio!

This one was done in the entrance to this enormous fort in Syria, called Crack De Chevalier. Don’t ask me about the origin of that name, I have NO idea! I was to busy doing this whilst my guide was storming on ahead.

Guides and I generally = a very dangerous combination! For some reason they always seem to hate me or more precisely, quit. I guess if you were a 60 year old professor and you saw me doing what I was doing in the vlog below instead of listening, you wouldnt exactly be to into it.

Oh well, I left the castle ignorant but happy.

Hope you like the vid!
