Mika went head to head with the hottest pop producer at the time, Red One to create the huge hit ‘Kick Ass’, the title track from the movie of the same name released in May 2010.
Based on the Marvel Comic by Mark Millar and John Romita, KICK-ASS tells the story of a regular kid who becomes a real-life superhero, even though he has no superpowers. Directed by Matthew Vaughn and written by Vaughn with Jane Goldman, the movie stars Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson and Chloe Grace Moretz and following a massively successful run, spurned a second movie.
An incendiary slice of global pop ‘KICK-ASS’ the single is every bit as powerful and thrilling as you would expect when Mika and Red One collide in the studio. Mika said “Being a lifelong comic fan it was a huge thrill and dream come true when Matthew Vaughan asked me to contribute the title track, especially on a story as good as KICK-ASS. Working with Red One on the song was a great experience and we’ve brought out a different side to my songwriting, its one of the favourite tracks I’ve done so far’.
